Market introductions

The large-scale introduction of cleaner and more sustainable vehicles and ships presents market actors and government bodies with significant challenges. For example, electric vehicles will not have all the advantages that car owners currently enjoy in terms of costs, driving performance, maintenance, the availability of infrastructure and image. Nevertheless, if transport is to be made more sustainable, trend setters must be found to introduce such innovations and emphasise their advantages.

At Ecofys we support companies and governments with the market introduction of cleaner and more sustainable vehicles and ships. One of the lessons from our experience is that those considering large-scale purchases involving alternative transport technology first want to try one or a few vehicles for a trial period. Before deciding to undertake such a pilot, they will want to check whether the technology meets critical requirements such as costs, green image and innercity accessibility, the availability of fuel, vehicles and main-tenance, and they need to have confidence in the future in terms of residual value, policy stability and continuity of supply. The first step is curiosity about the topic, stimulated for example by reports in the media or discussion within the buyer’s own network.

By combining marketing, technical expertise and an extensive network in the fuel and automobile industry, we can provide market introduction campaigns for cleaner and more sustainable vehicles. Our experience with more than two hundred vehicle fleet owners and our knowledge of European and global developments in technology, legislation and regu-lations enable us to quickly find an effective approach, working closely together with cus-tomers.
