Jatropha is a promising biofuel crop that could save a significant volume of GHG emissions compared to fossil fuels. At Ecofys we assessed the Jatropha biodiesel produced by D1 Oils and BP in terms of greenhouse gas performance. We used methodologies that are currently applied or being proposed by governments, such as the UK RTFO methodology. In addition, we assessed the impact on GHG performance if this methodology were to be adapted to comply with the Renewable Energy Directive of the European Commission.
