In Europe, policies are moving towards a carbon-constrained economy. In order to deal with new legislation, companies will need to develop a carbon management strategy. For this purpose, Ecofys has developed CarMan, a decision-support tool that will help you identify and manage your carbon related assets and liabilities, your opportunities and risks.
What is CarMan?
CarMan is a software module that is designed to enable users to evaluate different carbon-saving measures on the basis of their cost-effectiveness. Different scenarios can be developed and assessed by changing important parameters such as interest rate, subsidy level, energy and CO2 credits prices. In addition, the structure of the module facilitates analysis of more than one site at the same time. Developing integral strategies and supporting decision making on holding level is an inbuilt feature of the program.

Why use CarMan?
Carbon prices are affected by developments in European and national carbon policies as well as developments in the power and energy market. That’s why they can change fast and substantially. Analysing different scenarios and regular reviews of your carbon response strategy is key in this dynamic environment. CarMan is specifically designed to deal with these challenges in a user friendly way.
CarMan helps you assess risks and identify opportunities related to your carbon assets and liabilities. It will be easy to take ‘make, buy or sell’ decisions in board room settings. The consequences of selecting or deselecting specific reduction options to the distance-to-target are immediately visualised and presented on screen. By aggregating multi-site information CarMan enables you to take more effective decisions on corporate level.
CarMan can be operated by energy or environmental managers. Its user group, in particular in boardroom or workshop settings, however, extends to site engineers, key operators, and the decision makers (CEO, CFO).
